Let’s Try This Again | Adventurous Homebody Club

1. I hope you’re doing well! I had a wonderfully low-key homebody weekend filled with rest, housework, new creative projects, and lots of kitty cuddles — exactly what I needed!

Thanks to social media, it’s easy to feel like everyone else is always off on epic adventures, but remember, it’s all a highlight reel. Even the most adventurous need a chill recovery weekend every now and then!

2. Lately, I’ve been curating my Instagram feed to get some new inspiration: unique fashion, home renovation, cats (always), crafting, DIY, and following other creative creators. If you’re looking to diversify your own feed, here are some accounts I’ve been loving:

@sibster | Low waste, low-cost crafts, and DIYs
@siranda_manchez | Creative fashion and lifestyle
@jayciesdiary | Self-love and personal growth
@kyliekatich | DIYing her dream home

3. On a personal note, I’m coming up on two years of being a full-time content creator, and I can’t stop thinking about how accurately this post describes the job. I love my job but as you know, two conflicting emotions can exist at the same time. I’ve spent the summer contemplating how I want to show up online..

4. One platform I’ve been thinking a lot about is YouTube. Last year, I shared three longer videos before feeling discouraged by the slow growth, so I gave up. Now, a year later, I’m feeling burnt out by short-form content — I’m seeing the same videos everywhere, and I’ve been posting the same videos too. I’m craving more: more nuance, more conversation, more storytelling, and more community.

So, this weekend, I did that I’ve been saying I’m going to do: I filmed a YouTube video. AND, I taught myself how to edit on Premiere Pro! 🤭

5. Why YouTube? In short, I’m looking for security. While Instagram and TikTok seem to change daily (not usually in ways that help creators), YouTube consistently supports and funds its creators better. Plus, there’s more opportunity to build a community, and I feel like there’s a gap for the kind of videos I want to create.

All of that and it just feels right! My gut’s telling me this is the path to take, and according to my horoscope (thanks, Chani!), now is the time to start. So, here I am, giving it another shot — this time, with a fresh approach. Wish me luck! 🤗

6. In other news, I’m reading the fourth book of the Throne of Glass series and love it!!! After I finish this series (which will be easy because I’m listening nonstop), I plan to start the Crescent City series, as recommended by my bestie, Mary.

7. With a cozy weekend comes some good TV binging! I watched The Perfect Couple on Netflix and loved it! I read the book by Elin Hilderbrand a few years ago, and I’m such a sucker for her stories!

Dom and I binged the second season of Outlast on Netflix! The concept is pretty straightforward — a group of people are dropped in the Alaskan wilderness, and they have to outlast each other. I’m in awe of what they endure; I don’t think I’d make it one night, haha. 😅

8. Now, let’s move on to some products I’ve been loving lately! On the adventurous side, it’s been these $10 sunglasses straps. I thought they were a little dorky at first, but they’re actually super handy and cute — plus, I’m losing (or sitting on) my sunglasses way less!

9. On the homebody side, we bought a Ninja Creami from Costco! Full disclosure: We’ve only used it to make protein ice cream, haha. I like it, but it’s a bit of a process — you have to mix, freeze for a day, thaw a bit, and then use the (very loud) Creami to blend it all together. This week, we will try some new recipes I’ve been saving!

10. Before I go, I want to add easy action items to these emails!
