I’m Doubling Down | Adventurous Homebody Club

Hello friend,

1. Wow – what a week. I hope this newsletter finds you rested, nourished, and hydrated.

2. I’m coming to you today with a heavy heart. Post-election, I’m struggling with sadness and grief seeing the deep divides in our country. But more than anything, I keep coming back to the reminder that it’s not just us as individuals — the system we’re living under has failed us all.

3. Now more than ever, we need self-love. When we care for ourselves, we can better show up for others.

I asked my Instagram community how they’re practicing self-love lately, and here’s what some of you shared:

🕯️ “Daily walks outside, turning off the big light and intentionally reducing screen time.”

🏃‍♀️ “Moving my body because exercise = endorphins”

🎄 “Decorating for Christmas!”

📖 “Lots of time cleaning, organizing and reading.”

☀️ “Journaling, reaching out to friends and wearing something every day that makes me happy.”

4.

5. On a related note, I want to touch on the expectations for creators regarding politics. I feel like influencers are often held to higher standards than our own elected officials (and corporations and billionaires).

Personally, I’ve received hate messages over the most minor things — like the milk I drink and the books I read — so you can imagine the intensity around political beliefs. 🫠

6. Through my content, I’ve done my best to show my values, and moving forward, I’m doubling down on being a light in the darkness. I’m focused on creating and engaging with grace and compassion, while keeping the boundaries I need to protect my mental health.

7. If you are frustrated by a lack of political content from those you follow, maybe it’s time to share your voice. Make your account public, post your thoughts, grow your own digital community, and lead the conversations YOU want to see!

8. In happier news, I bought Toasty her very own tiny tent!!! She immediately claimed it as her own and won’t let Kelso near it.

10. Be kind to yourself and others! Drink some water, go outside, take a deep breath, scream if you need to. Cuddle your pets, plan something to look forward to, support local, and don’t give up.

I’m grateful for you and sending love!
