I Met A Stranger From The Internet | Adventurous Homebody Club

Hello, friend!

1. I hope you are doing well since I was last in your inbox! It’s hot and sunny in Phoenix, so I’m gearing up for our first river day and northern Arizona camping trip of the year!

2. Since we last spoke, I flew to Montana to meet a stranger from the internet… Rachel Pohl! We’ve been FaceTiming and chatting since ~2021 about all things entrepreneurship, social media, astrology, self-love, travel, Taylor Swift – you know, the essentials.

We’ve had a long-distance friendship for years, and I’m so glad we finally met in person!

3. Rachel is originally from Bozeman, Montana, though her and her husband recently moved to Norway. She was back in town for work and invited me to meet her for the week! We hiked around Bozeman, stayed in the dreamiest cabin in Big Sky, and then explored a few more trails before I flew home.

4. We had so much fun getting to know each other beyond social media! I don’t have many influencer friends, so it was nice to spend time without someone who gets it (and doesn’t mind when I ask for “just one more photo”, haha).

5. I’ve admired Rachel’s work for a long time, and I’m honored to now call her a friend. She’s a full-time artist and a total inspiration! Check out her website here! And her hat collaboration with Free People.
6. Since getting home, I’ve been in full homebody mode:

  • Playing Animal Crossing with Dom on our Nintendo Switch
  • Binge-watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
  • Reading (and loving) Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
  • Planning our backyard renovation
  • Journaling and playing with my first Tarot deck
  • Cuddling the cats nonstop

7. While I would love to start working on our backyard, it will be too hot to plant anything, so that will have to wait until Fall. In the meantime, I’m getting our soil prepped for planting, getting quotes to build a shed, and scouring Facebook Marketplace for free landscaping rocks!

8.  Similar to my current favorite mantra, “how can it get better than this?” –
9. The latest social media trend, “propaganda I’m not falling for” makes me laugh. Here’s my edition:

Propaganda I am falling for:

  • Never leaving the house without a water bottle
  • Media literacy
  • Oat milk
  • Birkenstocks go with everything
  • Buying second-hand
  • Lifelong learning
  • SPF, wide-brim hats, and sun shirts
  • Eating seasonal fruits and veggies (I’m on a peach kick)
  • Journaling gratitudes
  • Camping over fancy stays
  • Bidets on every toilet
  • Investing in yourself
  • Talking to trees
  • Astrology as a self-discovery tool
  • Unfollowing people who make you feel bad
  • Time outside every single day

10. Before you go – don’t forget to spend some time outside today! Go on a block walk, eat dinner on the patio, watch the sunset, play fetch with the dog, water your plants – whatever you do, give yourself the gift of connection with nature.
Sending love! Jacey
