1. I want to start this newsletter by sending love to my friends in LA. Witnessing the devastation caused by wildfires is heartbreaking — I can’t imagine what it’s like to live through it. My heart goes out to everyone affected, the wildlife, and the brave firefighters risking their lives.
2. If you have extra resources, consider donating to MutualAidLa.com. If donations aren’t an option, you can still help by signing this petition to hold corporations accountable for the climate-fueled fires and make them pay for the damages.
3. Watching these tragedies unfold so close to home (and across the world) has left me scared, sad, and spiraling with anxiety. More than anything, I’m angry — angry at politicians who coddle corporations responsible for these disasters while blocking critical environmental legislation. And then, I can’t help but wonder – when will the disaster be in my backyard?
4. So, what can we do?! Honestly, I don’t have all the answers, but I’m trying to channel my energy into small, meaningful actions. Here are a couple of things I’m doing to fight back against this broken system:
- Ramping up the self-love. I knowww, I know, it may sound cliché… but loving myself helps me show up better for others. When we truly love ourselves, we’re less likely to spread negativity, whether it’s rage-baiting on social media or driving with road rage. Self-love creates a butterfly effect of kindness and patience that can make a real difference.
- Supporting my local library. Yes, libraries allow you to borrow books (and audiobooks – my fav), but they are also places to learn new skills, explore new hobbies, and they are a place to connect with others in your community!! They are open to everyone and provide access to knowledge, creativity, and connection for FREE. My library offers lots of classes and free events, a lot of which I added to my calendar so I can show up and support my community.
- Signing petitions and staying up-to-date on environmental news. I’m keeping up with environmental news and conservation efforts by following accounts like @western.priorities, @frackoffchaco, and @westernwatersheds. Small actions, like signing a petition, may feel insignificant, but they add up when we all participate.

8. While I was sad about cancelling my trip, a trip to the thrift store made up for it. I found the coffee cabinet I’d been manifesting for just $60! It needed some TLC, so I spent the weekend sanding. This is my first attempt at refurbishing furniture, and I can’t wait to show you the final result!
If you missed it, I shared a thrifting vlog on my Instagram!
9. To end this newsletter with some fun things to click on, here’s some media I’ve loved in the past couple of weeks:
- Reservation Dogs on Hulu – Dom and I binged this show and LOVED every second of it!
- “It feels like the world is ending” – This one-minute Reel is so beautifully vulnerable, it made me feel less alone.
- Doechii: Tiny Desk Concert – After listening to this Tiny Desk, I’m a Doechii fan!
10. Thank you for reading and for being here. If you’re looking for some easy (and free) ways to show yourself a little extra love today, here are a few ideas to try:
- Write down five things you’re grateful for — big or small.
- Treat yourself to a bubble bath tonight!
- Blast this new song from Tyler, The Creator and dance around your room.
- Take a yoga break and pick a video by Adriene.
- Go outside and take a walk around the block.
Sending love! Jacey
