And With That, 2024 Comes To An End | Adventurous Homebody Club

Hello friend,

1.  We did it! We survived another year! I’m so grateful to be in your inbox and want to wish you a happy 2025! 🥳

2. While the calendar says it’s a new year, I don’t celebrate my personal new year until the spring equinox in March.

For me, this shift takes the pressure off those first dark and cold months and gives me space to reflect, recharge, and thoughtfully plan what I want to achieve in the upcoming year. It feels more in tune with the natural rhythm of things — when the spring flowers start to bloom, so will I! 🌼

3. This was my first year celebrating the Winter Solstice (some photos here), and we had a quiet Christmas (we went mountain biking, haha).

We’re also planning a low key New Year’s celebration, with some minor home renovations on the agenda for the week ahead. We’re starting 2025 with fresh paint and if I get lucky on Facebook Marketplace, some “new” (used) furniture!

4. It feels like it’s been months since I last emailed you, and so much has shifted for me in that time — especially in therapy. I love my therapist so much. In the last year, she has taught me about energy, ego, intuition, and so much more. Our recent conversation about comparison really stuck with me, and I want to share it in case it helps just one of you!

On jealousy and comparison — Social media has been such a big trigger for me, and I was venting about it in therapy recently. My therapist said something that changed my brain: The only way to “heal” jealousy and comparison is with gratitude.

5. UMM, WHOA. YES. I have so much to be grateful for! Practicing gratitude to combat jealousy is a small mindset shift, but it makes such a big difference.

6. Also, she reminded me that social media is fake. It doesn’t exist in the real world — it’s just on your phone. So whenever I start spiraling, I remind myself: Put your phone down, and make a list of what you’re grateful for!

7. Small mindset shifts that make the day-to-day better are my focus for 2025. No big resolutions —  just simple, mindful changes.
8. So, while I’m not making any big resolutions at the moment, I do have a list of things I plan to leave behind in 2024:

  • Fear of vulnerability – I’m focused on healing my sense of self-worth, especially outside of my job and income.
  • Over-identifying with external validation – This one is tough because my job is all about external validation, but next year, I’m committed to creating for the JOY of it!
  • Over-identifying with external shame – It feels like everyone on the internet wants to shame you for what you eat, wear, drink, breathe, read, etc. It’s just projecting insecurities, and I’m NOT accepting it!
  • Feeling jealous of others – My New Year’s mantra is: I’m too grateful to be jealous! (Which reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Meg Thee Stallion, haha)

9. Speaking of vulnerability, I uploaded a new YouTube video!!! 🤪 I appreciate all your views (and likes and comments!!).
10. As we head into a holiday that encourages people to share what they accomplished, please know that you accomplished enough. YOU ARE ENOUGH. And if you didn’t meet your goals, or let go of bad habits, there’s always next year! Or not! It’s not that deep!! 🫶🏼

Say something kind to yourself, list three things you are grateful for, go outside, and have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!
Sending love! Jacey
