Alone In The Desert | Adventurous Homebody Club

Hello!

1. I hope you are having an amazing April – happy Taurus season! Now’s the time to slow down, get mindful, and enjoy the finer things in life. Think: spending lots of time in nature, treating yourself to the comforts you deserve, journaling your gratitudes, and nourishing your creative side!

2. I’ve been spending lots of time outside and even added a new “first” to my list of outdoor accomplishments. I celebrated my 32nd birthday with my first solo backpacking trip! I had an amazing time and I didn’t feel alone… because I brought my vlog camera along! 😉

4. Also, fun fact: this is the first YouTube video I edited myself! I used my go-to editing app, Splice, and did all the edits on my iPad. It was surprisingly easy (and fun!), and it left me feeling motivated to create more long-form videos. That said, as I joked in my vlog, I’m not making any promises about my YouTube journey – isn’t there that belief that if you say plans out loud, they won’t happen? Or you lose all motivation? Anyway, I hope you enjoy my latest vlog!

5. Another exciting milestone: I went on six backpacking trips this desert season – two of them just since I last wrote to you (pics here)! After so many trips, I’ve finally dialed in my perfect backpacking set-up. If you’re curious about the gear I use and love, check out my backpacking gear essentials

6. On the homebody side of things, we kicked off our backyard renovation! We hired a team to remove the (very dead) grass lawn, the curb, and all the old rock. The next day, they laid down fresh crushed granite, and it already looks incredible! It’s officially a blank slate now. Next up: painting the wall, installing garden beds, and planting some native trees and shrubs.

7. As you’re reading this, Dom and I are headed north for a little road trip to celebrate both my birthday and our 6th wedding anniversary! We packed the mountain bikes and are planning to explore some beautiful parts of southern Utah. I’m extra excited because I don’t have to work on this trip, so it’s a true vacation. Woohoo!

8. And ohhh boy do I need a vacation – we both do. Honestly, my brain is barely working to finish this email, haha.

9. Please promise me you’ll go outside today! It doesn’t have to be anything complicated. Eat lunch outdoors. Take a quick walk around the neighborhood. Take your dog on a mini adventure. Watch the sunset. Have dinner on the patio. It doesn’t matter what you do – I just want you to breathe in some fresh air!

10. P.S. If you’re on Instagram, keep an eye out for my sponsored post on Thursday – I’m teaming up with Gregory and Garmin for a giveaway!

Sending love! Jacey
